Weltraffer is a 2008 history brickfilm by nichtgedreht. It follows the same patch of land in Europe through prehistory to modern day.[1] It was created for Steinerei 2008 and won two prizes.
Plot[]
A volcano forms and trees and water appear. A creature crawls out of the water and becomes humanoid. Humans appear, build a hut and multiply. Rome appears and is destroyed. Medieval buildings appear, and the plague kills everyone. A French villa appears. Revolutionaries appear, blast down the door, and execute royals with a guillotine. Industrial factories appear but are destroyed by a tank. The Berlin Wall appears but is eventually torn down. A modern city appears. People go about their lives. Technology advances and robots and people in space suits appear.[1]
Awards[]
Weltraffer took first place in two categories at Steinerei 2008, and was also nominated in one category in the 2008 Bricks in Motion Awards.[2] It has also been shown at a number of film festivals,[3] and won an award at one in Slovenia.[4]
