The Evolution of Creation is a 2001 history brickfilm by Greg Perry about the evolution of nature and civilisation. It is set to Mozart's Symphony No. 25 and was an entry to the Classical Movie Contest on Brickfilms.com,[1] in which it was nominated for the Best Animation prize.[2] It was later entered into the BrickFest 2002 Animation Festival Competition and was voted the winner of the Conference Organizer Award.[3]
Plot
Grass and sea form and spread across the land. Tall trees and dense foliage grow, and dinosaurs roam. Plants decompose and regrow over time, and creatures begin to crawl out of the ocean. Birds arrive and monkeys appear from the bushes. Primitive men and women appear and knock down plants to make room. They build a hut from wood and leaves, and one of them constructs a statue. A lightning strike leads to their discovery of fire, and they eventually leave the area by boat. It becomes overgrown, and then covered in sand. Four ancient Egyptians appear with a sarcophagus and build a temple around it. The land eventually becomes grassy again, and large apple trees grow.

Greg Perry originally intended for the film to show the entire progress of civilisation, but he only made it up to just before Medieval times by the time the contest deadline arrived, explaining the abrupt end of the film. This actually worked in his favour because he had failed to notice the contest's time limit of five minutes, and the amount he managed to get done clocked in at just under five minutes. The credits of the film read "To be ever continued..." and call it a work in progress, but a continuation was not released.[4]
