Revision as of 13:36, 7 August 2022

Rebrick was an official LEGO contest platform and was formerly also a social platform for sharing LEGO creations. It hosted eleven brickfilm-specific competitions beginning in 2012. In 2018, it went offline to be superseded by contests on LEGO IDEAS.[1]

ReBrick Flick Halloween Competition

On September 25, 2012, it was announced that ReBrick would be hosting its first ever video competition, which would have a Halloween-related theme.[2] The rules of the ReBrick Flick Halloween Competition were posted on October 1. The theme was "spooky fun" and the contest was open to everyone 16 and over with a ReBrick account. Non-LEGO elements were not permitted and there was a time limit of 3 minutes. The deadline was October 29.

The five entries that received the most likes from ReBrick users were then evaluated by a panel of judges based on creativity, originality and theme. The prize for the one winner was the LEGO set 10228 Haunted House signed by LEGO designer Adam Grabowski, as well as a LEGO Monster Fighters grab bag including 40076 Zombie Car, 30201 Ghost, 850487 Halloween Accessory Set and the Monster Fighters keyrings Ghost, Monster and Lord Vampyre.[3]

The winning film and other finalists were:[4][5]

The LEGO Movie ReBrick Film Competition

ReBrickTLMGuide

A series of images used in the contest announcement to illustrate the concept wanted for entries

The second ReBrick brickfilm competition offered entrants a chance to get their brickfilm included in The LEGO Movie. It was announced on March 18, 2013, and entries were accepted from March 25. The goal was to create a 15 - 30 second animation showing a character taking something apart and reconstructing it into something new that could help defeat a bad guy. Clips were required to use the setting of an existing LEGO line (excluding licensed lines), be shot at 3.2 megapixels or above and shot at a framerate compatible with a 24fps output. Entrants had to be 16 or older and the deadline was May 6.[6]

The 25 entries with the most likes on ReBrick were then judged by a panel including North American Community Coordinator at the LEGO Group Kevin Hinkle, The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and co-director Chris McKay. The prizes for first place were a feature during a scene in The LEGO Movie, a trip to Warner Brothers Studios with a tour for 2, a trip to meet the directors of the movie to take part in a LEGO build, a customized engraved LEGO ticket to The LEGO Movie designed and built by the official LEGO model shop and the full range of sets from the film when available, signed by the designers. The prizes for second were a trip to Warner Brothers Studios with a tour for 2 and the signed full range of the film's sets, and the prize for third was the signed full range of the film's sets.[7] The winning entries were:

  1. Gorgy wants a Horse - Kevin Ulrich
