Jedi Chronicles: The First Duel is a 2002 sci-fi action brickfilm by Nick Maniatis.[1] It is a faux-trailer for a fictional Star Wars film about the invention of the lightsaber, and the first ever lightsaber duel.[2] It was created for the BrickFest 2002 Star Wars Movie Trailer Competition and won the Conference Organizer Award.[3]
Plot[]
In a time before the lightsaber, Jedi practice duelling with swords and staffs. A brilliant engineer works on a new weapon, and when it is ready, presents the lightsaber to an old Jedi. The Jedi tests it out and realises its power, accidentally managing to cut a piece of equipment in half.
A man working for a Sith lord manages to deliver a lightsaber to the Sith, but the Sith uses it to kill the man. When the Jedi takes a landspeeder across a desert on a mission, the Sith lies in wait behind a rock before following on a speeder when the Jedi passes. The Sith jumps aboard the landspeeder and the two engage in the first lightsaber duel atop the still-moving vehicle. They battle until the landspeeder crashes into a rock and they are thrown off, at which point they continue the duel on the ground until the trailer ends.[2]
