Brickfilm Day (abbreviated BFD) is an online brickfilming community, with events hosted through Discord [1] and on Youtube[2]. It was originally founded in 2017 by James Cawood and Lewis Townley, with a goal of creating one day to celebrate the art of brickfilming[3]
Brickfilm Day is a yearly event in which animators are encouraged to upload a brickfilm and engage with other community members, with all participants being highlighted through the Brickfilm Day social media. The Brickfilm Day community is also hosts collaborative events such as Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer in LEGO in 2018, and The Skywalker Saga in LEGO in 2020. They also publish a "Monthly Brickfilm Highlight Reel" [4].
History[]
Brickfilm Day's Youtube channel was founded on the 10th of October 2017. Their first video and collaboratory activity was uploaded on the 28th of October while its Discord server was founded on August 15, 2018.
On February 10, 2018 their first Brickfilm Day event was announced. It had 52 participants and lasted for an entire day. This main event continued until present time.

Brickfilm Day (Event)[]
Brickfilm Day is their first and main event in which animators are encouraged to upload a brickfilm on a specific date. This event lasts for one day, hence the name.
Brickfilm day 2021 saw it first time that made use of feature participants whose animations were featured by Brickfilm Day and who were required to upload their entry into a assigned time slot
Brickfilm 2022 abandoned this practice and only allowed animators to submit their entries through their email as Brickfilm Day 2021 was proven to be too difficult for the staff to manage as people could submit their entries throughout all of their social media.
BFD Animation Contests[]
The Brickfilm Day contests are a series of contests that make use of a knock-out round where participants submit animations based on a specific theme that they must complete in a certain time slot. The best animations move to the next round until a winner is declared. It consist of three rounds.
BFD Animation Collaborations[]
Also known as the Trailer collaboration projects are community projects where participants recreate certain scenes from trailers, notable examples are the Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer in LEGO and Skywalker Saga in LEGO.
BFD Themed Events[]
The Brickfilm Day Themed events refer to events that do have a specific theme, unlike Brickfilm Day (event) where there is no theme, the Brickfilm Day Themed events do have a theme, notable examples are the Brickfilm Day History event and Sci-Fi Brickfilm Festival.
Finish The Story[]
Finish the story is a collaborative event where participants are finishing a brickfilm story.
Monthly Brickfilm Highlight Reel[]
The Monthly Brickfilm Highlight reel is a compilation of brickfilms that came out in the month; they are often submitted by members of Brickfilm Day. There is also a yearly equivalent of this category.
