Brickfilms Wiki

Ashes, Ashes is a 2015 post-apocalyptic brickfilm by Liam Gerety. It is about a man's psychological struggles in a time of anarchy.[1] It was created for the 2015 Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long Contest and ultimately placed sixth.[2]

As lawlessness becomes widespread, it is evident that much of the world's luxuries have been abandoned, and even nature has taken a toll. A man wanders through a forest of dying trees and sees a visual hallucination of a boy. The man flashes back to a time in which he failed the boy (who was his son), presumably causing the boy's demise.

The man happens upon an abandoned town where he sees a woman held at gunpoint. He experiences another hallucination replacing the woman with his late son. As the two men holding this women at gunpoint become agitated, the woman looks over to the man for help. The man sees a gun, but does not attempt to go for it as the woman is shot fatally in the head.

The man then reaches a campsite where he finds a cabin and some wooden logs for a fire. At night, he pulls out the gun that he failed to use before. He points it at himself, and the hallucination reappears encouraging him to shoot himself. The man overcomes the hallucination and points the gun away from himself, proclaiming that if he does shoot himself it will not be today.[1]
